At last fall’s “Playing For The Planet” concert, Matt Glaser, Jon Wheatley, and Brittany Karlson started off the evening with a beautiful set of American vernacular art music, including this gorgeous version of the old Elizabeth Cotton favorite, “Freight Train.” Brittany Karlson’s singing and bass playing is a real joy. You can hear the musicians’ pleasure as the song goes on.
The concert raised $900 for 350MA.org.
If you like this music, perhaps you’d consider donating a few bucks to them again.
I started putting on these benefit concerts to raise money, raise awareness, and raise our spirits. With music like this, the tasks are easier and the rewards greater. We need beauty in our lives.
